We’ve been after these guys for a while and frankly we’re very excited especially as they’ve just released their wonderful new album ‘Trials’

Trials’ is the second album by shady bard, released on October 11th and preceded by the double download release of ‘Trials (Part III)’/’Daphne’. With tracks from their debut having already featured in US TV dramas such as Grey’s Anatomy, the band return with a new record filled with cinematic instrumentation and symphonic pop songs.

If you don’t want to just take my word for it here’s what some other people have to say:

“A band it would be easy to fall in love with…dazzling.” The Sunday Times

“Delicate songs…cracked hope…a marvel” Channel 4

“The spoken word symphonies of iLiKETRAiNS and the evocative harmonies of Low…A record that becomes more engaging with every listen.” 9/10 Drowned in Sound

JAMIE LEY
http://www.myspace.com/jamieleymusic

Playing a solo show for us, Jamie Ley’s alt folk sounds have gained him a steady fan base since his 1st show back in December 2008. He has been featured on Radio 1’s BBC introducing, Xfm’s Xposure & magazines Dazed and Confused and The Fly have this to say about him:

“Pure perfection in a neat, melodious bundle” – The Fly Magazine

“Part of the Communion collective of vagabond musicians that has included Mumford and Sons and Jay Jay Pistolet, one listen to songs such as ‘Morning Smile’, ‘Goodbye’ or ‘Suzy Sang’ reveals that he is in the same league as his contemporaries” – Dazed and Confused

LISBONNE
http://www.myspace.com/lisbonne

Ever wondered what music tigers dance to? Look no further! Lisbonne is the musical alias of singer/songwriter marie m, a french girl exiled in London, who when not on tour with her band Monade, writes dreamy pop songs in her bedroom. The perfect soundtrack for sunny afternoons laying in the sun.

KICK THE PLUG JUNE 2nd FRÁNÇOIS & THE ATLAS MOUNTAINS + ADELAIDE’S CAPE + KLAUS

Kick the Plug returns once again to Clerkenwell’s Wilmington Arms. This time around we present Fránçois & The Atlas Mountains, Adelaide’s Cape and Klaus.

Expect musical brilliance, culinary treats and badges aplenty.

Fránçois & The Atlas Mountains
http://www.myspace.com/francoisinbristol
François Marry is a multi-talented songwriter, musician, animator and artist, hailing from the west coast of France. At the age of 19, François travelled over to the UK, and quickly became involved in the Bristol scene, playing a number garnering notable support slots (including Juana Molina, Gravenhurst, Patrick Wolf, Panda Bear, Electrelane) and assembling an ever-changing band of players called ʻThe Atlas Mountainsʼ – whose cast has included Rachael Dadd (Angelʼs Egg), and Rozi Plain – and has performed around the globe, as well as being a touring member of Scottish indie-pop starlets Camera Obscura (4AD), on trumpet and percussion.
Françoisʼ previous releases often featured casio-beats, and lo-fi electronics – but new album Plaine Inondable marks a departure from that style. piano chords swell, electric guitars gently shimmer, and Françoisʼ soft croon floats throughout – his bilingual songs melding the bitter-sweet yearning of Leonard Cohen with the melodic playfulness of Serge Gainsbourg and Françoise Hardy. The result is a confident and unique blend of styles, that dreamily infuse with one another; a semi-conscious state, which is further reflected in the fluctuation between French and English lyrics.

Adelaide’s Cape
http://www.myspace.com/adelaidescape
Adelaide’s Cape is the creative outlet of musician and songwriter Sam Taylor, with a helping hand from his musical mates. So far he has been lucky enough to tour with Alessi’s Ark and Rachael Dadd, and has shared stages with Pete Roe, First Aid Kit, the Wilkommen Collective and Polly & The Billet Doux amongst others. He has also toured the UK on his lonesome, and will be off on tour with The Miserable Rich at the beginning of June.

Klaus

To warm you up we have The Magic Lantern. They’ll be lighting up the Wilmington Stage. I’m all out of cheesy puns about them now.
