Kick the Plug returns to Exmouth Market’s Wilmington Arms, because it is excellent in so many ways. This time around we present the brilliant London folk-scene favourites Stars of Sunday League with support from our own Indie-folk cutey Catriona Irving and Brighton’s Laish Duo. As usual there will be cakes and badges aplenty, and the addition of a timely selection of toffee and chocolate apples, with DJ sets from the Neednowater DJs and guests. All for only 4 of your English pounds.

Here’s some more information on the bands:

Stars of Sunday League

Stars of Sunday League is the constituent parts of Euan Robinson. Liberated by a lack of real musicianship he writes simple uncluttered songs about how the biggest things are wrapped up in the smallest. He has been treading the musical boards around London since summer 07 and has found himself standing on stages at Bestival, End of the Road, New York’s Sidewalk cafe, sxsw and bandstands and grandstands. Apart from the grandstands. Live, Stars of Sunday League adds the various talents of Sarah Triggs to the mix playing and it’s been known for Emmy the Great to sometimes add a vocal gloss to proceedings.

Catriona Irving

Catriona Irving is a singer/songwriter based in London. Her debut release was the self-released ‘Running on Empathy’, followed by the Stitch EP which enjoyed excellent reviews (“DIY music at it’s best”, said FACT, while the Metro called her “an artist to watch out for”). She’s currently working on a new material and in the meantime has been building a reputation for her live show, playing at venues such as 93 feet east, the 12 bar Club and the Borderline, and supporting the Espers and Emilie Simon along the way. Combining clever lyrics and sweet melodies that stick in your head for days, with a sweet and witty live performance, Catriona is making a significant
mark on the DIY scene.

Laish Duo

Laish and Laish Quartet, and for this performance Laish Duo are the various names for Daniel Green’s most recent musical output. With an unusual fingerpicking guitar style, a distinctive and honest vocal delivery and a confident stage manner, he has found many admirers for his new collection of songs. A prolific songwriter, Green’s lyrics are open letters to friends; meditations on love, death, humour and despair. He also works with Brighton’s favourite post-folk orchestra,  Sons of Noel and Adrian as well as singing with  Redwood Red  and drumming with  Kopek . Laish Quartet is a part of Brightons’ Willkommen Collective.
